What is airbrush tanning?
It is the most healthy, UV free way to get your most beautiful bronzed EXPRESSions tan. In airbrush tanning, the tanning solution is applied by a technician using a HVLP (high velocity low pressure) compressor and airbrush. Airbrush tanning solutions contain an active ingredient, DHA (a natural sugar), that reacts with the outer layer of skin, producing an instant gratification bronzing effect. It must be emphasized that the pigments resulting from an airbrush tan DO NOT provide UV protection. The maximum generation of color is reached within about 10 hours, so the color will continue to darken after the initial application. Airbrush tanning solutions also typically have a normal bronzer that provides an immediate tan effect and helps the operator to distinguish areas of the skin that are applied and unapplied. Most of this added bronzer will come off in the first shower/bath after application.
Does airbrush tanning provide UV protection?
Absolutely not! You still must wear SPF to block the harmful UV rays.
How long will an airbrush tan last?
For a 7-10 day period from the application. This ultimately depends on how much your skin naturally exfoliates and how much you moisturize your body! Not taking long hot baths or showers or using exfoliaters makes your tan last longer.
How long does it take to apply?
A body application will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Allow 5-10 minutes drying time, for a total airbrush session of about 30 minutes.
What should I do to prepare for an airbrush tanning session?
On the day or night prior to your appointment, use a non-oil based exfoliant in the shower and make sure you shave (shaving before keeps your tan longer). Lotions and make-up may act as a barrier to prevent the tanning solution from reaching and interacting with the skin. In general, the skin should be clean and free from applied products.
What should I wear to an airbrush tanning session?
Wear dark, loose fitting clothing to your tanning appointment due to the bronzing solution rubbing off on your clothes. You may wear anything during the application process (many women wear bathing suits, go topless or choose to have no tan lines at all) it is your choice and comfort level. Allow 5-10 mins minutes drying time after your session before dressing.
How soon can I shower after an airbrush tan?
Allow 7-10 hours after your tanning session before showering. Ideally, the DHA application needs about 10 hours to reach its peak. Your first shower will wash off all of your bronzing solution leaving behind your beautiful bronzed skin.
How do I maintain my airbrush tan?
Apply moisturizer morning and evening after your first post-tan shower. Moisturize daily thereafter. Hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a longer lasting tan.
Can I use Tropical Tan Airbrush if I'm pregnant?
Although the DHA is not harmful, you still must consult your doctor!
